FAQs

What is your COVID policy?

This is ever changing as numbers rise and fall. Currently, masks are not required in both the waiting room or Dr. Patrick’s individual office. However, you are required to answer “no” to both pre-screening questions:

  1. Do you or anyone in your household have COVID symptoms (i.e. coughing, shortness of breath, fever, etc.)

  2. Have you had a recent known exposure to COVID?

If the answer to any of these is “yes”, please notify Dr. Patrick prior to your session, and your session can be switched to telehealth or rescheduled.

Do you currently have openings?

As of 10/18/24, I do currently have openings. However, this is consistently changing as people move in and out of treatment. Your best option is to contact me here to get an up to date sense of my availability.

Do you take insurance?

Currently, I don’t bill insurance directly but see below for information on how to see if your insurance will reimburse for my services as an out-of-network provider. You will also receive a Good Faith Estimate at the beginning of service. Click here for more information

Follow these steps to see if your insurance company will reimburse for my services:

  • Call the Member Services phone number often listed on the back of your insurance card. Let them know you’re asking about your “out-of-network benefits”

  • Some questions to ask them:

    • Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health coverage? If so, what percentage is covered?

    • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and how much have I met?

    • What is the co-pay for a session if I see an out-of-network provider?

    • What is required for a request for reimbursement and how do I submit it? What forms do I need to submit?

    • Are there any CPT codes that are not coverage/allowed? (my most used CPT codes are 90791, 90837, 90834, 90847 and 90846)

    • Are there any diagnoses that are not covered/allowed?

    • How will I be reimbursed?

    • Do I need a referral to see a specialist?

  • Explain your reasoning for wanting to see me, specifically (i.e. established clinical relationship with Dr. Patrick, no in-network providers with availability and/or expertise that meet my needs, etc.)

  • Take notes of their responses and collect any important identifiers (i.e. employee name/ID number, case number, etc.) if they have them for your reference later should they attempt to dispute a bill.

While I cannot make these calls on your behalf, I am happy to discuss their answers with you. If they will cover sessions, you will pay me directly and I will issue a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance company. They will likely then send you a check to cover their portion of the cost.

What is the cost for sessions?

The cost is $0 for an initial phone call. The full rate for a session is $230. I have a limited number of slots available for sliding scale (as low as $150) that is determined based on family size and income. Please reach out to learn about availability and eligibility.

Is the initial phone call required? Why?

Yes, an initial phone call is required for a few reasons. First, this is to determine if I have the right expertise to help you navigate your needs. If I don’t, I’ll make sure to tell you so you can access the best care for your specific needs. Second, it is to give you an initial opportunity to ask me any questions you might have.

What can I expect from therapy with Dr. Patrick?

Therapy looks different for everyone involved. You can expect to form a trusting relationship wherein you can discuss your concerns and get feedback. For some, this means developing specific strategies to manage their symptoms. For others, this is giving space to process what has been coming up for them and noticing maladaptive thought patterns. What approach is taken depends several factors including: your needs, diagnoses, comfort level, goals in treatment, etc. Above all, expect honesty and compassion. I will work with you to develop the right approach and goals for your treatment.

How often do I need to come in for session?

This is something that we will be decided during the first session. Most people attend therapy once a week or every other week. Those who need less support come less often and those who need more come more frequently. This can also change as progress is made over time.

Do you offer after-school appointments? What about after work/on the weekends?

I do offer after-school appointments, however they tend to fill up fast. Send an email or give me a call to determine if I have the availability you need. However, I do not offer appointments after 5pm or on the weekends at this time.

I have a concern that isn’t listed in under your “Services”, can you still see me?

The “Services” tab is not a comprehensive list of what I treat and what I offer. Please reach out with your concerns and I will let you know if it’s within my area of expertise.

Do you do virtual sessions too?

Yes, along with offering in-person sessions. I also offer virtual sessions through a HIPAA-secure video platform.
